Stay safe fire safety contentAlthough you may know that fire is dangerous, do you know how uncontrollable it can become or that breathing toxic smoke can quickly make you lose consciousness? Be responsible and don’t play with fire.
 

Smoking

 You already know that smoking is bad for you, but did you know that tobacco can kill you overnight? Tobacco keeps burning and it can quietly smoulder out of sight, starting a slow, deadly fire.
 
  • Don’t smoke in bed. If you are tired or drowsy, falling asleep with a cigarette in your hand will start a fire.
  • Don’t leave a lit cigarette. They can overbalance and land on a carpet or newspaper and start a fire.
  • Always double check that your cigarette is stumped out.
 

Hoax calls

 Making false calls to 999 can put lives in danger. Fire and rescue services are for emergencies and for every hoax call that is made, someone else may be involved in a real emergency.
