Knowsley Children and Young People's Services

Relationships and sex pregnancy contentPregnancy can be difficult no matter what age you decide to have a child. But if you’re a pregnant teenager your social life, work, education and training can be severely disrupted.

Having a baby means changing your life, and you are responsible for your child’s health, safety and welfare throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

I’m under 16 and pregnant. What should I do next?

The first thing you should do is have a pregnancy test at you local THINK clinic, family planning clinic or your own GP, to confirm your pregnancy and discuss the choices available to you.

Whether you are under 16 or not, whatever you discuss with the clinic staff or your GP is confidential, although they will recommend that you talk to your parents and will give you advice on how to do this.

Your local THINK clinic will give you confidential advice and support on sex, relationships, contraception, pregnancy and abortion and the Brook Advisory Centre operates a confidential helpline (0800 0185 023)

If you are a pregnant teenager or teenage parent the Knowsley Reintegration Service can offer you friendly advice and support, and help to access other services. Call Debby or Jane on 443 5681

If you are continuing with your pregnancy ask your midwife or the Reintegration Officer for a copy of the THINK PINK magazine, full of local information and advice for pregnant teenagers.
