Being healthy keeping fit contentAs well as making you look and feel good and being great fun, keeping fit ensures that your body is in tip top condition inside and out. It’s also good for your mental health.

You should try to exercise at least 30 minutes five days a week.  And it’s easier than you think.

Instead of sitting at your computer day in day out, why not get involved in a school sports activity or join a fitness class. If you don’t like one sport, try another – there’s an activity to suit everyone.

Take a look at our suggested list for some ideas:
  • walking
  • jogging
  • swimming
  • cycling
  • football
  • netball
  • hockey
  • weights
  • aerobic classes
  • yoga
  • pilates
  • horse riding
  • gym workouts
  • dog walking

If you don’t like the idea of joining a class on your own, why not convince your mates to go with you – exercise is also a great way of socialising and meeting new people.

If you feel embarrassed because you are overweight, or just haven’t built up the confidence to join a class, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. If you need some hints and tips to get started, there are plenty of dvd workouts that you can buy in the shops or hire from your local library or video store.
