At school racism contentIt is against the law to discriminate against people because of their racial, ethnic or national origins.

Many schools have policies on racial harassment and violence and your school has a responsibility to maintain an environment which gives respect and opportunity to all pupils.

If you are being harassed in school because of your ethnic background, culture or religious beliefs, you should talk to your teacher or another member of staff that you trust.  You should also speak to your parents.

If your family are not happy with the way the school is handling incidents they can ask to speak to the school governors, or the Commission for Racial Equality on 020 7939 000 to ask for advice.

Keep a log of incidents as they happen, including details like who, what, where, when, how and why they happened.  If you are worried or concerned, you should contact the police or Crimestoppers:

  • Crimestoppers - 0800 555 111
  • Merseyside Police – 0151 709 6010
