Safe chat
You might think you've met some real cool friends online but how can you be sure who you're talking to?
The Kidsmart website tells you all you need to know about staying safe when you’re surfing.
S – Stay safe and don’t give out personal information such as your name, email, phone, home address, school name or photographs to people who you don’t trust.
M – Meeting someone you’ve only spoken to online can be dangerous. You don’t know if they really are who they say they are. To be sure, go with a parent or carer or don’t go at all.
A – Accepting emails, texts or pictures from people you don’t know can lead to problems like viruses or nasty messages.
R – Reliable information? How do you know if someone’s telling the truth online?
T – Tell your parents or a trusted adult if something you find online makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.
