Pan-Merseyside Child Death Overview Panel

Knowsley hosted the launch of the pan-Merseyside Child Death Overview Panel at the Suites Hotel on 25 June. Representatives from Health, Social Care, the Police, the Coroners Offices, Fire & Rescue and other key organisations from Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and the Wirral attended.

The keynote address was delivered by Andre Rebello, HM Coroner for the City of Liverpool. There were also presentations from the Child Accident Prevention Trust and CEMACH.

Each local area on Merseyside has its own Child Death Overview Panel, responsible for collecting and analysing information on the circumstances of all deaths of children up to the age of 18 years. Any deaths identified as ‘preventable’ or ‘potentially preventable’ are looked at in more detail to enable agencies to see what actions can be put in place in future to hopefully reduce child deaths.
