Annual Safeguarding Children Conference - 15th October 2009, Partnership for Learning, Halewood
The Annual Safeguarding Children Conference took place on 15th October 2009 at Partnership for Learning in Halewood.  Over 130 delegates took part from a wide range of organisations providing services to children pre-birth to 18+ years, and parents/carers.

The theme of this year’s event was “Early Interventions to Safeguard Children”.  The keynote address was delivered by Anthoulla Khoutsadi from the Wave Trust. A video of this presentation will be uploaded to the website shortly.  

Delegates were also able to attend workshops on the following themes:

  • Coping with Conflict and Keeping Children Safe programmes
  • Safeguarding Themes in School Community Cohesion Plans
  • E-safety
  • Initial Assessment
  • Prevention and Early Intervention Work in Children’s Centres
  • Suicide and Self Harm
     

As the event was oversubscribed, all of the conference materials are available.

Serious Case Reviews - Executive Summaries now published
Knowsley Safeguarding Children Board has now published the Executive Summaries of the two Serious Case Reviews undertaken in the last year. They can be accessed by clicking here to visit the ‘Serious Case Reviews’ page.

Safer Internet day 2010

Tuesday 9th February 2010 is International Safer Internet Day.  The theme this year is 'think before you post'.  A number of events will be taking place across the borough.

Knowsley is hosting CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection), ThinkUKnow and Ambassador training.

ThinkUKnow - 24th February 2010, 1pm to 4.30pm, Kirkby Suite

This workshop will provide participants with the understanding and access to resources to deliver the ThinkUKnow programme to children aged 11 to 16 years.  It will also take participants through many of the most popular applications young people are using in the online and mobile environment.

All workshop participants must have an enhanced CRB disclosure that is no more than three years old.  This must be brought along on the day.

Places should be booked directly via the CEOP website.

CEOP Ambassador Training - 25th February 2010, Kirkby Suite

This is aimed at staff who will train other staff to deliver ThinkUKnow workshop to children and/ or parents/ carers.  It is a pre-course requirement to have completed ThinkUKnow training.  Applicants must also hold an enhanced CRB disclosure that is no more than three-years-old.  This must be brought along on the day.
