Training course SCBSR1
safer recruitment in schools (course code SCBSR1)
This is a one and a half day course for staff and governors involved in the recruitment and appointment of staff working on school sites. It is an alternative to the Children's Workforce Development Council online training, and is available to head teachers, designated governors and other staff involved in appointments, such as business managers.
On 1st January 2010 it will become mandatory that any staff recruited in schools have been appointed by a panel that includes at least one member who has successfully completed Safer Recruitment training. Knowsley Safeguarding Children Board expects all Knowsley schools to have their Headteacher and Chair of Governors trained as a minimum requirement.
Date: 6th & 7th January 2010
Venue: Training & Conference Centre, Huyton
Aims of the course
- To give participants an awareness and understanding of offender behaviour.
- To identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.
- To consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting.
- To help participants begin to review their own and their organisation's policies and practices with a view to making them safer.
